VLT guide

VLT (visible light transmission) is the percentage of light a lens lets through. A lower VLT means a darker lens, suited to bright sun; a higher VLT lets in more light, which helps in flat or low light.

For example, 13% VLT lets through about 13 of every 100 units of visible light. UV400 describes UV protection separately.

Very low light	Over 80%	Very light / clear	Very weak light; choose a lens specifically intended for those conditions.

Mirror colour, transparency & UV400

A mirror reflects light from the outer lens; VLT tells you how much light passes through to your eyes. Outside colour and mirror strength do not reliably tell you the inside tint. Pink and purple lenses at 18–20% VLT are still quite dark.

Mirrored does not automatically mean polarised. UV400 protection is separate from tint, so a light lens can still protect against UVA and UVB.

Weather ranges are general guidance. Use the listed VLT for the exact model and lens, rather than the outside colour.
